IF WE COULD SEE INSIDE OTHER PEOPLE'S HEARTS

From Cheryl Richardson's newsletter.
Cheryl always includes a video along with her wisdom and tips.
This is powerful!

Thank you, Cheryl, for sharing this as a reminder that we all have a story.

Happy Easter

This year we ended up with brown eggs from the farm. My girls were not very happy when they sat down to color eggs and saw they were brown.

After a little whining, they decided to make the best of it and challenged their creativity.
I think they turned out pretty cool.

Hope you had a blessed day.

A Documented Life

I can't believe I haven't mentioned my latest obsession……
In early March, I stumbled upon an art journaling challenge called A Documented Life. It was exactly what I needed because it incorporates art journaling with a daily planner. I have always journaled in one form or another, and this group has encouraged me to journal more often. Each week there is an art journaling challenge.

Here is my planner.

A little too much green, so I toned it down….

by adding more purple.
Here are a few challenge pages from past weeks.

Add a bird.

Have someone draw on your page, and you finish it.

Baby Pictures

I have one more idea to share with my students on how they can use photographs to personalize their journals. You can see the other class samples here.

When I was looking through my photo albums, the baby pictures kept standing out, so Babies became the theme.

Babies everywhere!

I used my parent's baby picture along with me and my husband and our 5 children. I made black and white copies to help blend and soften the cover.
With a splash of love (little red hearts).

Prayer Flags

This piece was once part of a quilt I started for my daughter, but after a while, it didn't seem to flow the way I had hoped. It soon became one of those UFOs (unfinished objects). After months of shifting it from one pile to another, it is time to scrap it.

This section makes a nice prayer flag.

Stitches Of Another Kind

I've enjoyed making my own hand bound journals for several years now. There is so much you can do to personalize a journal.
I'm getting ready to teach the high schoolers from my homeschool group how to make a journal. I'm trying to keep it simple while still pushing their creativity.

Here is sample #1

From a collage I put together using magazine clippings.

To a journal cover.
I left the cover blank for now, but I can see adding a quote someday.

Sample #2

Here, I used a map, a train ticket stub, a tag, magazine clippings, and ink to make it look old.

Learning To Weave Yarn

Six weeks ago, I signed up for my first weaving class, and I am loving it.
This is the sampler I'm making.

Natalie said "pick colors that make you happy today."

Each week I keep learning new techniques.

Love this magenta! Makes me very happy.

At the end.
Time to take it off the loom.
